Dr. Sepo Imakando Musokotwane, Phd

Operating Partner & Director of Research & ESG

Dr. Sepo Musokotwane is an Operating Partner and the Director of Research and ESG at Thebe Investment Management. Dr. Musokotwane has designed and implemented ESG and socio-economic impact assessment tools across multiple sectors, including mining and financial services. She is the creator of SIFOMISA — Socio-economic Impact of Mining in Sub Saharan Africa, a structured model for measuring the socio-economic impacts of mining, developed through research in mining countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her expertise is grounded in practical frameworks that enhance accountability, transparency, and long-term value creation. In addition to her investment and research work, Dr. Musokotwane is very passionate about education. She is the co-founder of Explorers’ Preparatory School, an innovative learning institution committed to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and foundational learning excellence in young children. Dr. Musokotwane holds a PhD from the School of Management at the University of the Witwatersrand (SA), where her research focused on socio-economic impacts of mining. She also earned an MSc in International Business Management from the University of Surrey (UK), and a BA in Biology from McDaniel College (USA), reflecting a multidisciplinary background that informs her systems-based approach to ESG.
